句子结构的变化一个非常大的优点，就是文章长短交叉，错落有致。相对于简单句子的罗列、并列句的嗦，从句和独立结构有自己独到的优点。
伦敦的天气变，人们总是要随身带着雨伞以防下雨。
但是，成功的人毕竟是少数。
比如，问talent和motivation哪个更重要，你不一定非要选其中一个，你的观点也可以是两者都很重要。
威廉做事从来不匆忙，他总是从从容容地做每一件事。
3.to talk over : (to discuss. Consider)
【说明：】to talk over（讲座，商量）指讲座、会商尚未实施的计划或问题，或以商谈说服，使别人赞成自己的计划。后面的受词如果是名词，应放在over之后，如果是代名词，则放在over之前，如My husband talked me over. （我的丈夫说服了我。）
【例：】
(1)We talked over Mr. Reese’s plan but could not come to a decision.
On the other hand, 40% think that fees should be charged because you need money to pay gardens and other workers, and to buy plants and young trees. They suggested, however, fees should be charged low.
1)该文使用Opinions are divided...作交代句，开门见山，随后两个段落均使用了主题句，使全文结构紧凑，表达严谨。
2)在表述要点时范文还对要点出场顺序作了调整，如 40%的同学认为应收门票，但不宜过高。 前部分作为主题句放在句首，而后部分另起一句放在句末：They suggested, however, fees should be charged low.这样就分清了轻重缓急，主题突出，条理清楚。
3)范文使用了and, what is more, however等连词，在段落之间使用了on the other hand，这些连接手段的运用加强了句子之间、段落之间的联系，使文章表达连贯，浑然一体。
4)范文在第二段为说明不收门票的 原因 时增加了Charging entrance fees will no doubt keep some people away.等细节，这也是解决句与句之间缺少连贯性的常见方法。
总之，要想使自己的文章有亮点，吸引读者，在考试中获得高分，就应在用词、造句、谋篇上下功夫，哪怕是有一处特长都是亮点，都是值得肯定的。
作文无定论，SAT作文也是一样，只要你的文章能把一个问题说明得深刻而有道理，语言流畅，结构清晰，即使你不按第三节里所介绍的套路写，照样也可以得到高分。
作文的答题纸是两页（见本节后的SAT作文答题纸），共有53行划线。
D的错误同A，而且will的使用和全句的过去背景冲突，起码要改为would；另外，to be placed在本句中多余。
分析：
We were talking about the Civil War and the abolition of slavery. I was well prepared, of course. I knew all about the Battle of Antietam and the Battle of Bentonville, I could find the battlefields on a map and tell you how many people had died. I raised my hand to give an answer and Mr. Blumgarden called on me. After I had answered, he asked me another question. But this was an unusual question. He asked me what I thoughtsoldiers on both sides thought about what they were fighting for. After that other people chimed in. And the class began to discuss the beliefs of both sides, the reason they went to war, and what might have happened if the other side had won. And I kept raising my hand, not to show how much I knew but, for once, because I was really interested.
简短的两问两答，用了一般过去时和现在完成时，这种语境是经常出现的。如果半年只学一种时态，是难以进行真实交际的。
在SAT中，要特别注意which和it的指代问题。
(B)the decision was that his fatherwould not accept the new position
但是，在排除两到三个选项后，在最后的两个（或三个）选项之间的选择往往非常难，因为剩下的选项仅仅从文法的角度看都没有太大的问题。这时，要从语言表达的简洁性和有效性等方面入手，看哪个选项的表达更完美。
其实在写这套丛书之前，我就给自己定下一个目标，那就是希望最后同学们在看这套丛书的时候，就如同在课堂围坐在我的身边上课那样，听我娓娓道来。
句中划线部分显然是不可比的，应把Mary改为Mary's（legs）。
